If there was a movie produced about your life, who would play you and why?
Jennifer Hudson. I think she is a fabulous singer and I feel that we have had similar journeys in our lives so she would understand my life.
What’s your fail-safe impressive dinner menu?
Oh dear, I’m a terrible cook. I would say Waitrose ready made meals…and I’d probably just say to my dinner guests that I’ve made it.
What are your ‘on duty’ and ‘off duty’ looks?
My off duty look is very simple; jeans, a T-Shirt, and flip-flops. My on duty look is also simple; trousers, boots with a heel, blouse, a suit jacket, and a nice purse/handbag.
Best way to wind down?
Sit on the couch and watch reruns of the Vicar of Dibley or anything on Netflix
Favourite city in the UK and why?
I’d have to say Cardiff. I had a great time in Cardiff, and the Welsh know how to have fun! (But I also liked Edinburgh, Manchester, and Brighton)
Top tip for talking about pay at work
I try not to discuss pay at work. In my field it is better, I think, not to know what others are being paid. It could be easy to become insecure, jealous, or upset by knowing what other people are paid.
Most embarrassing item in your wardrobe?
I have a pair of red cowboy boots, they don’t match anything in my wardrobe. My Dad bought them for me the year he passed away (2006) so I keep them because of him.
Favourite drink discovery?
Baileys on ice
California (I always travel for my work, but to me one of the most beautiful places in the world is southern California. Maybe it’s because my family is there, but in my heart home will always be California).

Has anyone left you star struck?
Chaka Khan!!! I met her in 2012 on the David Foster and Friends concert at the Kennedy Center . I sang in the closing number with her and other singers. I was so amazed by how nice she was to me, she even nodded her head in approval when I started singing. Can you imagine?!?!
What should people look out for?
I will be interviewing Rolando Villazon for the Royal Opera House: In Conversation on 25 February. In April I will be honouring the memory of William Shakespeare in a concert with superstar tenor Joseph Calleja and pianist Roger Vignoles in Stratford upon Avon, in May I will sing at the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden as Helen of Troy in Mefistofele and also will return to Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy, and in the sumer continue to work with the BBC as a presenter for the Proms.
