TSF 15: Professor Geeta Nargund – Medical Director of CREATE Fertility

Professor Geeta Nargund is the Medical Director of CREATE Fertility. She is also a Senior Consultant Gynaecologist and Lead Consultant for Reproductive Medicine services at St George’s Hospital, London. She is a pioneer in the field of Natural and Mild IVF and Advanced Ultrasound Technology in Reproductive Medicine.

If you had a 25th hour each day, what would you do?
Probably, just take on more work!

If you could capture and bottle a smell, what would it be and why?
Lavender. I love the aroma and find the scent very calming.

Essential store cupboard ingredients?
I couldn’t live without my spices.

What is your ultimate night in – or out?
Most definitely a night in.

What’s in your handbag?
Blackberry, pen, a note pad, keys, wallet

 Any cuisines you love or loathe?
I love Indian & Italian. I am a vegetarian.

What’s your daily uniform?
Typically either a smart dress or a trouser suit

Why does your job matter to you?
It gives me an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives. It is wonderful to help people fulfil their ambition of having a family.

Was there ever a time in your career where you thought ‘I’ve had enough?’
Not yet!

When you have a daily work slump, how do you snap out of it – tips?
I find a chat with close friends normally energises me. That or I switch off by watching television.

How did you achieve your current role?
Determination and hard work. I also could not have done it without the support from my family

What would you have told yourself five years ago?
Be brave to pursue your dreams and do not give up. There is no substitute for hard work. Take the moral high ground in pursuing your cause.

Who is your career inspiration?
Anita Roddick who founded The Body Shop, as she has also sought to make a positive difference and become a real “game changer” in her industry.

Favourite place for Brunch?
I am not really into brunch – I’m an early riser so need my breakfast! The Wolsey is one of my favourite places for a breakfast meeting.

Favourite shops?
I enjoying clothes shopping. One of my favourite shops is James Lakeland.

Best meal?
Cinnamon Club, London

Favourite hotel?
Tajmahal Hotel, Mumbai

Most used app?
I don’t really use apps, but I would be lost (literally) without Google maps!

Happy place?
Home after a hard day’s work

Wish list of trip destinations?
New York, Cambodia, Golden Triangle in North India

Has anyone left you star struck?
I have met many famous people in my line of work but so far I haven’t been star struck
